Building Resilient Mountain Futures

Nepal’s mountains are experiencing rapid climate change, affecting water sources, agriculture, forests, and the daily lives of rural communities. Building resilient mountain futures is no longer a choice—it is an urgent necessity. At Abhiyan Kapilvastu, we work to strengthen the resilience of highland communities through nature-based solutions, sustainable livelihoods, and climate-smart practices.

Mountain regions are highly vulnerable to landslides, unpredictable rainfall, and decreasing water availability. These changes threaten farming systems and local ecosystems. To address these challenges, our programs focus on restoring degraded landscapes, protecting natural springs, promoting climate-smart agriculture, and empowering communities with the knowledge and tools they need to adapt.

We also support local governance systems so that communities can lead their own resilience planning. By integrating traditional knowledge with modern climate solutions, we ensure that development efforts are practical, inclusive, and sustainable. Through women’s leadership, youth engagement, and community-driven action, we work to secure long-term environmental health and economic stability.

A resilient mountain future depends on collective action. By investing in sustainable practices and strengthening community capacity, Abhiyan Kapilvastu aims to build a future where mountain communities thrive despite climate challenges—stronger, more adaptive, and more resilient than ever.
